President Ruto urges unity, hope and faith in Easter message

President William Ruto has called on Kenyans to embrace unity, love, and renewed faith during Easter festivities.

In his message, President Ruto reflected on the significance of the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ, saying the events symbolize a new beginning and a powerful message of hope for humanity.

The President noted that Easter reminds believers that even in difficult times, faith can inspire renewal and transformation. He urged families across the country to celebrate the season in peace and joy.

“As we remember, kusulubiwa na kufufuka kwa Yesu Kristo, may this season remind us that baada ya kila jaribio, kuna ufufuo na kuna mwanzo mpya. To every family, may the spirit of Easter bring joy and peace. To every weary heart, may it bring hope and renewed faith. And to our beloved nation Kenya, may it bring strength of unity and love,” he said.

Easter is one of the most important celebrations in Christianity. It marks the resurrection of Jesus Christ, which occurred three days after his crucifixion by Roman authorities.

The events remembered during Easter begin with the arrest and crucifixion of Jesus, commemorated on Good Friday.

According to Christian belief, Jesus rose from the dead on the third day, an event celebrated on Easter Sunday. The resurrection is seen as a symbol of victory over death and a promise of new life and hope for believers.

The Easter season follows a 40-day period known as Lent, during which many Christians observe prayer, fasting, and reflection.

Around the world, Christians celebrate Easter with church services, prayers, and gatherings with family and friends. The day is widely associated with themes of renewal, forgiveness, hope, and new beginnings.
