Worker dies at Cabro Factory in Kwale county

Police are investigating an incident in Samburu, Kwale County, where a worker, Kitsao Charo, 38, died after being struck by a machine used to make cabros on January 28, 2026.

Charo was reportedly cleaning the pressing surface of the machine when the accident occurred. He was rushed to a hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

The incident temporarily halted operations at the factory as police processed the scene. Charo’s body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

In Oyugis, Homa Bay County, a suspect was killed during a robbery incident. Police said the suspect, reportedly in the company of four others, attempted to rob a local businessman at his butchery.

The businessman, who was reportedly armed with an axe during the confrontation, struck one of the suspects, resulting in the suspect’s death. The attackers allegedly stole Sh30,000. The deceased’s body was taken to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

Meanwhile, in Matayos, Busia County, an eight-year-old girl died after being assaulted by her older siblings over claims that she had taken Sh1,000 from her mother’s bag.

The girl, a grade three pupil at Tumaini Academy, was reportedly beaten by her siblings, aged 19 and 23, who were subsequently arrested. Police said her body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

In Subukia, Nakuru County, a 44-year-old man, Joseph Mutua, died following an assault. Police are investigating the incident as a possible murder, and his body was taken to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

In Gambogi, Vihiga County, Bernard Simwa, 45, died after being hit on the head with an iron bar during an altercation. He sustained a severe head injury and later died in hospital.

The suspect was arrested, and Simwa’s body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

Authorities have noted a rise in violent incidents and continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding these deaths.
