Buuri MP Mugambi Rindikiri involved in road accident

On Thursday morning, a car carrying Buuri MP Mugambi Rindikiri was involved in a road accident at Siraji Timau along the Meru–Nanyuki Road.

Police said the MP and occupants of both his vehicle and a matatu sustained minor injuries.

He was reportedly heading to a presidential event in Meru town. The injured were taken to hospitals and were reported to be in stable condition.

The MP’s team said he was fine and in good spirits but did not provide further details. Police said they were looking into the incident.

President William Ruto and Deputy President Kithure Kindiki attended the event as planned. The forum, held at Kinoru Stadium in Meru County, focused on the Nyota Project Business Start-Up Capital Disbursement.

Road accidents have been on the rise in the country. Police statistics show that 294 people died in separate road accidents between January 1 and January 21, 2026, an increase compared with the same period last year. More than 600 people were injured and are receiving treatment in hospitals.
