Murang’a Seal captain Joe Waithira is adamant the club can sustain the rich vein of form they showed at the tail end of 2025 and hit the ground running as they usher in 2026 with renewed purpose.
Before the curtains fell on 2025, the Murang’a-based outfit had stitched together an impressive nine-match unbeaten run.
Their last taste of defeat came on October 26, 2025, when they suffered a 1-0 setback at the hands of Tusker in a tightly contested affair.
However, Seal responded with a spirited 2-2 draw against Posta Rangers before grinding out a hard-fought 2-1 victory over KCB, results that ignited their upward surge.
The positive results kept flowing as Seal proved difficult to break down, registering successive draws against Kakamega Homeboyz (1-1), AFC Leopards (0-0), Shabana (1-1), Kariobangi Sharks (0-0) and Nairobi United (1-1).
They then signed off 2025 in style, posting back-to-back wins over Kenya Police (1-0) and Mara Sugar (3-1).
Those results have seen Seal amass 18 points from 14 league outings, leaving them comfortably in the upper half of the table.
Waithira says the squad is now back on the training pitch, fully recharged after the festive break and locked in on the task ahead.
“We have resumed our training and the boys are happy to be back after the festivities,” said the skipper.
“It is good news that the whole team is back in camp, full of energy.”
He noted that the next three fixtures will be crucial in laying a solid foundation for a strong push in the second half of the 2025/26 season.
“We are ready for the remaining three games of the first leg so that we can now start tackling the second leg,” Waithira added.
Seal’s immediate test will come against Mathare United on Saturday, Bidco on January 18 and APS Bomet on January 25.
Waithira was quick to credit head coach Osborne Monday for the club’s recent resurgence, hailing his influence in shaping a competitive and confident unit.
“We have been performing well and we have been playing good football,” he noted.
“First of all, we give thanks to God, and also we are playing according to the coach’s instructions.
“The coach is doing incredible work and he is pushing us a lot. The energy in the team is very high.”
The skipper also reserved praise for the club’s supporters, describing them as a vital driving force behind Seal’s encouraging run.
“Our fans have played a big role in our performance. Their support and encouragement have been very valuable to us,” he said.
“We urge them to continue turning up and showing their support so that we can achieve even greater results.”
