Detectives are investigating the murder of a 70-year-old man in Nchiru, Tigania, Meru County.
The deceased, identified as Joseph Kabiti, was found at his home in Ntori area.
Police reported that three suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident, though the motive is yet to be established.
Kabiti’s body was discovered lying on his bed several hours after his death.
Officers noted a deep cut on the back of his head.
The body has been taken to the mortuary pending an autopsy and further investigations.
Authorities noted that violent incidents in the area have reportedly been on the rise, with some cases linked to land disputes.
In Bonyunyu, Nyamira County, a woman died following an assault related to a domestic dispute.
Police said Annah Nyaboke Kamanda was discovered in a weakened state in a house where she had been held, a day after the attack.
She was taken to a local hospital but succumbed to her injuries on December 28.
Her body has been moved to the mortuary, and investigations into the assailants are ongoing.
In Tharaka Nithi County, a 13-year-old boy drowned in Thingithu River while celebrating Christmas Day with friends in the Tunyai area.
The body was recovered and moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.
In Gilgil, Nakuru County, police found the body of a man dumped by the roadside in Sogea area on Christmas Day.
The victim had deep cuts to the neck.
Authorities said the motive for the killing is under investigation, and the body has been taken to the mortuary pending identification and further examination.
In Emurua Dikirr, Narok County, a three-year-old boy died after sustaining a head injury during a domestic dispute between his parents in Sabnosiek village.
The child later died in hospital. Police have confirmed that an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
