Vocal Africa threatens legal action against IEBC, EACC over alleged election violations

A human rights group has hinted at taking legal action against the electoral body IEBC and EACC for failing to take stern action on those who violated electoral laws during the just-concluded by-elections.

Vocal Africa says the two institutions, among others, failed to tame and deal with officials who compromised the integrity of the polls in various polling stations.

In a media briefing on Wednesday, Vocal Africa assured that after the elapse of 14 days, they will proceed to court to sue the two bodies.

The Vocal Africa Executive Director Khalid Hussein, while addressing the press, demanded the resignation of the CSs and state officers who took part in campaigning for government-allied candidates.

The rights team insisted that the polls were unfair following the widespread cases of violence, intimidation, and voter bribery, and there was inaction from the IEBC and EACC.

They allayed fears that if action is not taken now, the country risks plunging into chaos during the 2027 general elections.
