Over 250 golfers will descend on the pristine Par 72 Muthaiga Golf Club for the 2025 NCBA Golf Series Grand Finale today (Friday), marking the climax of the fifth edition of the regional showpiece.
Ninety golfers have earned their spots from qualifiers held across Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania and Rwanda. Up for grabs are the series’ top honours across the overall, men’s, ladies’, and junior categories, with the overall, men’s, and ladies’ winners each set to pocket Sh130,000.
There will be added excitement at the par-3 13th, where golfers will have a chance to walk away with a JCB Backhoe Loader, courtesy of JCB Ganatra, should anyone conjure the perfect hole-in-one.
VetLab’s Mary Karano returns for her third straight Grand Finale appearance, having been a constant presence in the previous two editions.
Speaking ahead of the finale, NCBA Group managing director, John Gachora, hailed the event as the culmination of a vibrant and far-reaching series.
“The Grand Finale marks the culmination of a very successful series this year that has been bigger and better, traversing the region following the inclusion of Rwanda.
“We have made an effort to be at most clubs this year, whether through a main qualifier, a club night, or a monthly mug,” Gachora said.
Since the series teed off in January at the Kenya Railway Golf Club, more than 5,102 golfers have featured across 40 tournaments staged in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and Rwanda.
He highlighted the impact the series has had on growing the sport. “As we celebrate the fifth season, we are proud of the immense impact the series has had not just on the golfers but on everyone involved. “We have made sure that everything at Muthaiga is in check to ensure we have a successful day as well.”
Gachora reiterated the bank’s commitment to elevating the sport across the region. “We remain committed to supporting golf in Kenya, and we look forward to hosting the golfers on Friday and experiencing a skilful round of golf.”
This will be the third time Muthaiga hosts the Grand Finale since the series began in 2021. The inaugural edition was staged at Karen Country Club in 2021 before shifting to Muthaiga in 2022, Sigona in 2023 and back to Muthaiga in 2024.
