Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris has moved to end a wave of online speculation over her political intentions, issuing a firm clarification on Friday night that she has not endorsed anyone to succeed her in 2027.
Passaris said manipulated posters had been circulating across social media platforms.
She dismissed the graphics as edited fabrications intended to mislead the public and drag her into early succession politics.
According to Passaris, by the time Kenyans head to the polls in 2027, she will have completed her second and final term as Nairobi Woman Rep—an affirmative action seat reserved for female leaders.
“Over the last 24 hours, I’ve seen several edited posters circulating online. Let me set the record straight. By 2027, God willing, I will have completed two full terms as Nairobi Woman Rep. This is an affirmative action seat, and I believe it is time for another woman to lead. To be clear,” she stated.
“I have not endorsed anyone for the seat, It is far too early for that, and I will not be drawn into political games, misinterpretations, or manipulated graphics.”
She stressed that it is only right for another woman to step forward for the position, but she has not endorsed any candidate and will not be pushed into premature political alignments.
She added that the matter remains too early and sensitive for public pronouncements, and any final decision would be guided by the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), where she serves as a leader.
In her statement, Passaris also declared her support for President Ruto’s re-election bid, praising his leadership qualities, work ethic and what she described as a transformational agenda for Kenya and the African continent.
“As for the presidency in 2027, my personal endorsement is for President William Ruto because I believe in his leadership, his focus, his hard work and his transformational agenda for Kenya and for the African continent,” the woman rep stated.
Still, Passaris maintained that her immediate focus remains on service delivery and fulfilling her mandate in Nairobi.
Her statement comes against the backdrop of claims circulating online that she had endorsed Senator Nyamu as her preferred successor.
