Police are investigating an incident in which a police officer collapsed and died at his home in Rabuor, Kadibo, Kisumu County.

According to authorities, Corporal Odhiambo Okal, who was attached to Watamu Police Station in Kilifi County, was off duty when the incident occurred on Wednesday evening.

Police said a relative found him unresponsive in his house in Kamdira village and alerted others. He was later confirmed dead.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

In a separate incident, a four-year-old boy died from burn injuries at their home in the Soweto area of Kibera, Nairobi. Police said the child sustained burns on November 8, 2025, while playing with other children.

According to the boy’s mother, he was injured on the stomach and chest. She told police she did not seek hospital treatment and instead bought painkillers from a nearby chemist.

The child died at home on November 19, 2025. Police are investigating the matter, and the body was taken to the mortuary for further procedures.

Meanwhile, a six-year-old boy drowned in a pool of water in Moiben, Uasin Gishu County. Police and witnesses said the child was playing with friends in the Landi area when they entered the water.

The boy drowned, and his body was retrieved by parents who rushed to the scene. It was taken to the mortuary pending an autopsy and further investigations.

Police have urged parents and guardians to be vigilant during the holiday season, citing an increase in such incidents at homes and around rivers. They noted that many cases involve children playing without close supervision.

In Kisumu and Vihiga Counties, police are also investigating two separate cases in which two people were found dead after suspected drowning.

In Ahero, the body of a man identified as Fred Otieno was found submerged in a rice nursery bed plantation. Locals told police he had been living with epilepsy. The body was moved to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

In Kilingili, Kegondi, Vihiga County, another man reported to have been living with epilepsy was found dead in a stream. Police said the body was discovered in Buyahi stream on Tuesday and has been taken to the mortuary pending an autopsy.

In Namanga, Kajiado County, four children were rescued after a fire broke out in their house.

Police said their mother had locked them inside on Wednesday before leaving for errands when the fire started.

Neighbours broke into the house and rescued the children, aged six, four, three and 11 months.

Preliminary police reports indicate the children may have been playing with a matchbox, which is suspected to have ignited a mattress and started the fire.
