KSh 10 Million Relief: Kindiki and Ruto Step in to Fund Education of Betty Bayo’s Children

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki announced a substantial KSh 10 million contribution aimed at supporting the children of the late Betty Bayo.

The announcement was delivered during the burial ceremony held at Ndumberi Stadium on Thursday, November 20.

Prof Kindiki confirmed that he and his family would contribute KSh 5 million to a trust fund established for the children. He also delivered greetings and a further KSh 5 million pledge from President William Ruto.

This combined financial support is specifically designated for the education of the young family.

A Trust Established for Education

The decision to form a trust account was agreed upon by the family and the church. The fund is designed to ensure the young children left behind receive proper education. The children are named Sky Victor and Danny.

The aim is to prevent the children from facing suffering or embarrassment later in life. The Deputy President noted that their late mother was known as a great blessing to many people and the church.

“The family and church have agreed there should be a trust account for all those who want to help our sister’s children get an education, so they do not suffer embarrassment, given their mother was a blessing to many people.”

The establishment of the fund follows recognition that the children of gospel ministry workers sometimes struggle after their parents pass away.

Immediate Financial Commitment

Mr Kindiki was explicit about the timeliness of his donation. He stated that his KSh 5 million contribution, made together with his wife and family, would be transferred immediately.

He requested only the account number to proceed with the wire transfer.

“I just need the account number. I’ll wire the money immediately.”

He assured attendees that this was not a matter requiring days of processing.

Kindiki’s Personal Connection

The Deputy President shared personal background information to explain his motivation for contributing. He revealed that he was born into a preacher’s family. He stated he understands the severe difficulties faced by church workers and their families.

He highlighted the long tenure of his own father in the ministry. His father, who is now approaching 90 years old, served in active

service for over 55 years.

He was an ordained reverend of the Methodist Church. Kindiki mentioned that despite the hardships sometimes faced by clergy families, he relies on a specific biblical assurance.

Quote from Psalm 37

A constant fixture in his childhood home remains a banner bearing a verse from Psalm 37. The verse reads: “I have been young and now I am old, but I have not seen the righteous suffer nor their children begging for bread”.

The Deputy President, who is 53, noted that this sign has been present since his youth.

President Ruto’s Support

In addition to his family’s KSh 5 million pledge, Prof Kindiki conveyed President Ruto’s significant support.

Kindiki reported that he called the President while en route to the burial. The President asked him to relay greetings to the attendees.

Crucially, the President confirmed his own decision to contribute KSh 5 million to the newly created trust fund.

This contribution is also specifically designated for the education of the late sister’s children.

The combined KSh 10 million pledge ensures a strong financial foundation for the future of Betty Bayo’s young children.
