Where did Wanjohi Kamara die? According to the Raleigh Police Department, the tragedy unfolded at around 6:55 a.m. near the Atlantic Avenue bridge.  It all started when a left front tyre detached from a 2013 Volkswagen Passat driven by 28-year-old Tyree Bryant McKinnie.

The loose tyre travelled across the bridge, bounced over lanes, curved left, and then vaulted over the median barrier into the eastbound side of the highway before slamming into Kamara’s vehicle with devastating force. Kamara was pronounced dead at the scene. Subscribe to watch new videos Why was McKinnie arrested? Police later arrested McKinnie, who is now facing charges of causing involuntary death, driving without a licence, and operating a vehicle with an expired registration. Court records indicate that McKinnie has a history of driving without a licence dating back to at least 2019. Investigators remained at the scene for hours as officers pieced together the events that led to the catastrophic failure of McKinnie’s vehicle. As the diaspora community rallies around Kamara’s grieving family, tributes continue to pour in for a man remembered for his generosity, leadership, and unwavering commitment to helping others. May his soul rest in peace. Kamara was the national director at the Kenya Christian Fellowship in America.

Wanjohi Kamara’s exploits in the US Before his demise, Kamara, affectionately known as Brother Wanjohi, was a respected national leader within the Kenya Christian Fellowship in America (KCFA). He was eulogised as an influential figure known for mentoring newcomers and organising cultural events. His dedication, humility, and heart for the fellowship touched many. Kamara served as the Director of the Men’s Department, sat on the National Executive Board (NEB), and was a long-time member of the KCFA Triangle Chapter in North Carolina. His death was announced by KCFA president Patricia Njanga, who expressed profound sorrow at the tragic loss. “It is with deep sorrow that we inform you of the passing of our NEB member, Brother Bernard Wanjohi, who went to be with the Lord following a road accident this morning,” read part of her statement. Patricia urged the community to offer prayer and support for his grieving wife, Jane, and their children, as they walk through this season of grief.
