The Government of Kenya has issued a statement, assuring members of the public, private and public institutions that online services have resumed on key Government websites that were hacked on Monday November 17, 2025 in the morning.
In a statement on Monday, Ministry of Interior Principal Secretary (PS) Raymond Omollo advised members of the public to take necessary precautions, and report any suspicious cyber-related activity to relevant authorities.
“The Government of Kenya wishes to notify the public that on 17th November 2025, a cybersecurity incident occurred in which several government websites were rendered temporarily inaccessible,” read part of the statement.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the attack is suspected to have been carried out by a group identifying itself as ‘PCP@Kenya’.
“Following the incident, we immediately activated our incident response and recovery procedures, working closely with relevant stakeholders to mitigate the impact and restore access to the affected platforms,” PS Omollo noted.
He added that the situation has since been contained, and the systems are under continuous monitoring.
“Our focus is on building layered defences, improving readiness, and ensuring that any attempt is detected early, contained quickly, neutralized decisively, and its impact minimized,” stated the PS.
At the same time, the PS urged members of the public to report any suspicious cyber-related activity through the following channels:
1. National Kenya Computer Incident Response Team & Coordination Centre. (National KE-CIRT/CC) Email: incidents@ke-cirt.go.ke
2. National Computer and Cybercrimes Coordination Committee (NC4). Email: info@nc4.go.ke
3. Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
Omollo emphasized that the attack constitutes a violation of Kenyan law and applicable international conventions, including the Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Act, the Kenya Information and Communications Act, and the Data Protection Act.
The Government also issued a stern warning that individuals found culpable will face the full force of the law.
