Nairobi Girl Disappears after Visiting Mall, CCTV Footage of Last Movement Surfaces

A family in Mutuini Estate, Dagoretti South, Nairobi county, is appealing for information concerning their loved one. . Rahab Njoki Njuguna has been missing for over a month, leaving her family deeply worried. The 13-year-old girl was last seen on Sunday afternoon, September 7, at the Waterfront Mall in Karen. Her concerned mother painfully narrated the last moments with her young daughter, who is yet to return home.

Only my daughter has been missing since then. I have not seen her to date,” said Njeri Ndung’u, Rahab’s mum. Rahab was seen walking calmly into the mall alongside another girl and a young man in a white top and blue jeans. They passed through the security check without issues as they followed each other closely. They seemed to be waiting for someone or something as they gazed in one direction for a while. Moments later, the CCTV captured more young men joining the group, but their faces were unclear and unfamiliar.

A while later, Rahab and the young man were spotted walking together outside the mall, with Rahab waving goodbye to someone. She claimed that he even threatened her before walking away with Rahab, leaving her and the other young men behind.  Njeri was on the brink of tears as she pleaded with the young men who were in Rahab’s company to bring her daughter back. “Please return my child. I am pleading with you. She is supposed to be in school. I just want someone to return my child because I am in pain. I can neither eat nor sleep. I have searched for her in all ways,” she said, as she shared the OB number from Karen Police Station. Njeri shared that an unknown caller, who identified himself as a senior police officer, reached out to her. The man claimed to have rescued her daughter and convinced the family to send him money with the promise of reuniting them with their kin. “We sent them money. They said the child would be taken to Kabete, but it was all a lie. When we went to Kabete with my sister-in-law, the OCS said there was nothing like that,” she said.
