Former prime minister Raila Odinga’s son, Raila Junior, has reacted to Kikuyu elders visiting his father’s grave site days after his burial. Raila Odinga’s son, Raila Junior, thanked the Kikuyu elders for visiting their home and his father’s grave site. Raila died in India on October 15 after he was rushed to the hospital. He had collapsed while on his morning walk. Days after his burial, Nyeri governor Mutahi Kahiga was captured celebrating his death, sparking uproar across the country. He, however, came out to defend himself after resigning from the position of Vice Chairperson of the Council of Governors.
What did Raila Junior say to Kikuyu elders? Moments later, elders from the Kikuyu community headed to Bondo, where they paid their final respects to Raila and mourned with his family. After their visit, Junior, while talking to them, thanked them for their courtesy visit and extended the invitation to Kenyans. “We thank you, elders, for coming to Bondo, and we welcome Kenyans to come to Bondo. They can come pray with us and visit us and visit his grave,” he said. His sentiments came after a section of ODM leaders warned those who criticised or celebrated Raila’s death against visiting his grave site.
