Kenyan Man in Germany Emotional as Colleagues Hang Raila’s Portrait in Office after His Death

A Kenyan youth based in Germany has shared a deeply touching and thoughtful gesture by his colleagues at work to honour the late former prime minister, Raila Odinga. Kenyan man moved by colleagues in Germany honouring Raila Odinga.  Raila passed away on October 15 in India at the age of 80. The news of his death plunged many Kenyans into mourning as his supporters expressed their grief in various ways. The late ODM leader was given a state funeral with full military honours, as directed by President William Ruto. He was laid to rest at Kang’o Kajaramogi in Bondo, Siaya county, where his parents and other family members had been buried.  How did Indago’s colleague honour Raila Odinga? As many continue to remember Raila, famously known as Baba, Indago, the Kenyan youth in Germany felt a sense of home while at work. When he walked into the office, he was moved to see a portrait of Raila prominently displayed among other world-renowned figures on the office’s “revolutionary wall.” Indago said his office mates pinned Raila’s picture on their office wall.

“I had taken two days off work, and when I returned, I was greeted with this surprise. It was so emotional to see that my colleagues from Mexico had pinned a photo of Raila Amollo Odinga on the wall,” he said. Indago shared a snapshot of the picture pinned on the wall, with the Latina words ‘Ciao Baba’ — meaning ‘Goodbye Baba’ written at the top. The heartfelt gesture left the young man overwhelmed, noting that it was a true display of love and solidarity. Many flooded his comment section with kind words, praising his colleagues for making him feel at home and joining in his grief.  Netizens react to Raila’s photo pinned at office in Germany Social media users reflected the widespread grief, with people from various countries, including Austria, sharing how Baba’s death affected them and expressing their continuing support for his legacy. Shalexis: “I’d have cried and asked for time off immediately.” Pino: “Baba was our Mandela for sure. A man with a pure heart. Truly, Baba didn’t have to die.”

Puka Emmah: “I’m in Austria, and Baba’s death has caused me so much pain. I don’t know how to deal with it. I’ve been crying, but may he rest in peace. Baba, we will continue the work you started.” Irene Onyango: “This just touched me. I recently bought my dad a T-shirt with Baba’s picture on it, and his reaction was everything.
