Raila Odinga: Pastor Ezekiel Shares Moving Tribute, Recalls how Leader Intervened in His Legal Woes

Newlife Church Center leader Pastor Ezekiel Odero has mourned Raila Odinga who died in India on October 15.

Ezekiel was in 2023 implicated in a scandal after the government started investigating the bodies that were found in Shakahola. Following the investigations, Ezekiel was arrested and he remained behind bars for days until he was finally cleared. After Raila’s death, Ezekiel shared a moving tribute in his honour and recalled moments the late politician showed up as a true friend. “He asked me why I was going through things and I did not do anything wrong. I told him that is what I was trying to understand. And he said it was wrong, for me to go through all those things. Among everyone, Raila took his time, and paid his own flight to come and visit me and hear the truth about why the church was going through those issues,” said Ezekiel.

The man of God also noted that Raila was not afraid of associating with him at a time when nobody wanted anything to do with him. “We as the Newlife Church we are in pain because when we did not have friends Raila was a true friend and he came to investigate the truth because no one wanted to come. That is why I am saying as a church we have lost a friend. Even after visiting me, he kept checking on how we are doing. His death has hurt my heart so bad. Even though you are gone, it is not easy for Newlife to forget your true love when we were in deep pain,” he added.
