CNN International Correspondent Larry Madowo has responded with sarcasm following his recent high-profile road altercation.
The incident involved Kibra MP Peter Orero and his driver. Madowo is now attempting to locate a flash disk to fulfil a sarcastic request made by the lawmaker’s entourage.
The journalist’s quest is a direct retort to the MP’s driver. The driver had angrily told Madowo to “take the video to President William Ruto” after the journalist began recording their confrontation.

Road Rules Ignored
The dramatic incident occurred on 9 October 2025. A vehicle belonging to Kibra MP Peter Orero was captured on video being driven on the wrong side of the road in Nairobi. This action forced Madowo’s car to halt.
Madowo, who was driving correctly, refused to give way. A tense exchange followed.
The 26-second clip documenting the confrontation quickly went viral online. The footage shows the MP, sitting in the passenger seat, alongside his driver. The driver obstructed traffic.
The Challenge: ‘Take it to Ruto’
During the heated exchange, Madowo began recording the rogue driving. In response, the duo mocked the journalist’s move, daring him to do whatever he wants with the clip, including presenting it to the highest office in the land, if he wishes so.
This comment was widely interpreted as a display of arrogance. Many felt it showed a belief that the officials were untouchable and immune to consequences.

A Sarcastic Delivery
In a sharp comeback shared on 11 October 2025, Madowo revealed his new mission: finding a flash disk to deliver the viral clip. He intends to carry out the delivery to President Ruto at State House.
Madowo jokingly referred to the President as the “landlord called Ruto”.
The journalist explained his unique delivery plan: he wants to place the video in an envelope. He plans to write the President’s name on it and leave it at the gate for delivery.
In a direct address seeking help, Madowo asked:
“Who has a flash disc they can lend me? There’s a certain video I want to take to State House.”
He also added a cheeky alternative on a social media platform:
“Ama nimtumie kwa Wozzap?” (Or should I send it to him via WhatsApp?)
Madowo stressed his mock dutifulness to the original request: “I was sent to deliver it to the landlord called Ruto,” he said in jest. He reiterated his request: “So please, whoever has one, help me,”.

Widespread Condemnation
The footage drew condemnation from Kenyans who described the MP’s behaviour as reckless and unbecoming.
The police have stated they will pursue the driver and possibly prefer charges. The incident has sparked a fresh national debate on whether some individuals feel they are above the law and flaunt traffic rules with abandon.
