The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has renewed its desperate search for Collins Jumaisi Khalusha. He is the prime suspect linked to the gruesome killings in Nairobi’s Kware area.
To aid his capture, the DCI has announced a substantial cash reward. The National Police Service (NPS) is now offering Sh1 million to anyone who provides credible information leading to his re-arrest.
The renewed appeal was made in a statement released on Tuesday, September 30, 2025.
Jumaisi remains at large over a year after escaping custody.

The Gigiri Breakout
Jumaisi escaped police cells in August 2024, just moments before he was arraigned for murder. It has now been 13 months since the incident.
He was being held at Gigiri Police Station in Nairobi. Jumaisi did not flee alone; he escaped alongside 12 other suspects.
The 13 suspects broke out by cutting through a wire mesh roof. They then scaled a perimeter wall. The police described the mass breakout as having been facilitated by insiders.
“WANTED FOR MURDER. REWARD: KSH 1,000,000. Collins Jumaisi Khalusha, the prime suspect in the monstrous killing of several women whose bodies and parts were retrieved from the Kware dumpsite in Nairobi, is still wanted by police.”
Following the escape, the DCI Director Mohamed Amin confirmed the incident. He said a fresh hunt was immediately launched.
“Unfortunately, this has happened, but we are pursuing the matter for action.”
Allegations of Mass Murder
Authorities had previously described the suspect as a “psychopathic serial killer”. Last year, officials revealed that Jumaisi had confessed to committing mass murders on 42 women since 2022. This number included his own wife.
The victims were aged between 18 and 30. They were reportedly killed in a similar way. Their remains and body parts were found at the Kware dumpsite.

However, the validity of his confession was disputed14. His lawyer claimed that Jumaisi had been tortured into confessing to crimes that were “alien to him”.
Disciplinary Action and Public Appeal
The high-profile escape sparked outrage among the public. Consequently, eight police officers were suspended or placed under interdiction.
Among those interdicted were the Gigiri Sub-County Commander and the Officer Commanding Station (OCS). Five officers were also charged in court over the escape.
Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, speaking in August 2025, described the escape as “regrettable”.
This is the second time the DCI has issued a reward for Jumaisi. However, this time, the Sh1 million reward amount has been clearly disclosed.
According to early reports, Jumaisi hails from Shiru Sublocation, Shaviringa Location, Hamisi Subcounty, Vihiga County.

“Every piece of information is valuable.”
The DCI is strongly urging the public to cooperate. Citizens who may know his whereabouts should report information via the hashtag #FichuaKwaDCI.
