The National Police Service has announced temporary road closures and traffic diversions in Nairobi scheduled for Friday due to the ongoing African Nations Championship (CHAN 2024) matches.

Motorists traveling from Nairobi Central Business District (CBD) towards Thika Road, including destinations such as Ruiru, Juja, and Thika, are advised to use Kiambu Road at Exit 4.

Authorities have set up a roadblock at Muthaiga to control traffic movement.

Vehicles traveling along the Thika Superhighway and heading towards Mwiki are directed to use the alternative route through Ruaka, Baba Ndogo, Lucky Summer, Nairobi River, and then onto Mwiki.

Those coming from Thika, Juja, and Ruiru heading into Nairobi CBD are advised to use either the Northern Bypass or Kiambu Road. A roadblock will be in place at the Ruiru Interchange to manage the traffic flow effectively.

In addition, travelers from Githurai to Nairobi CBD are instructed to take the Githurai 44 to Kiambu Road route.

For fans and visitors heading to the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani Stadium, those without vehicle access passes should use the Service Lane at both Exit 7 and Exit 8.

The National Police Service continues to work closely with relevant agencies to ensure the smooth management of traffic throughout the city during this busy period.

Additional police officers have been deployed across key points to enforce traffic rules and maintain order.

Motorists have been urged to cooperate with officers on site and adhere to the traffic guidelines to avoid congestion and delays.

Authorities warned that strict action will be taken against anyone violating traffic regulations.

The police asked the public to plan their journeys accordingly and expect potential delays near match venues on Friday.
