Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has publicly praised Harambee Stars goalkeeper Bryne Omondi, promising to pay his house rent for three months following his standout performance in the ongoing African Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament.
The MP’s gesture comes as the national team continues to impress in the continental competition.
Salasya took to his social media pages to announce his reward, highlighting Omondi’s impressive record in the tournament so far.
The goalkeeper has been a crucial part of the team’s defence, keeping two clean sheets against DR Congo and Morocco and conceding only one goal against Angola.

A Goalkeeper’s Stellar Performance
In his posts, Salasya affectionately referred to Omondi as his “man of the match,” applauding the player’s composure and skill.
He expressed his admiration for the goalkeeper’s commitment on the pitch, which has been key to Kenya’s success.
“He is my man of the match. Very composed and knows his work. Let us congratulate Harambee stars goal keeper hawa wengine watakula ya state house mimi na goal keeper rent tu pekee.”

The MP’s post indicates that the amount he will pay is based on Omondi’s current rent, offering a sliding scale from KSh 20,000 to KSh 50,000 per month.
Salasya also used the moment to make a broader promise to the national team. While mentioning his plan to run for president in 2027, he stated that if he wins, all Harambee Stars players would be entitled to a binding contract with retirement benefits of at least KSh 70,000 a month for life, in addition to medical benefits.
He also suggested a starting salary of KSh 450,000 with additional sponsorship.

“All harambee stars players will be entitled to a binding contract with retirement benefits atleast 70k a month for their lifetime and medical benefits salary itakuwa 450k for the start.”
National Support for the Team
The MP’s promise adds to a growing list of incentives for the Harambee Stars, led by President William Ruto. Following the team’s historic progression to the knockout stages, President Ruto met with the players to congratulate them and offer new rewards.
The President promised each player KSh 2.5 million if they secure a victory in their upcoming match against Zambia on Sunday.
This is an increase from his earlier promise of KSh 1 million for a win. He also pledged a KSh 1 million payout per player for reaching the quarter-finals, along with a two-bedroom affordable housing unit in a location of their choosing.
These incentives reflect a significant show of support from the country’s leadership as the team prepares to face Zambia in a crucial encounter.
