I have lived along the Nakuru–Eldoret highway my whole life. There’s a certain stretch of road we all fear, about 200 meters long. It looks harmless during the day. But at night, and especially in the rain, it turns into something else entirely.People here call it “Kona ya Kifo” the corner of death.
At least twice every month, there’s a serious accident there. Buses overturn, matatus crash head-on, bodabodas are run over. Most times, the victims die on the spot. It’s as if the road swallows people whole.I have personally seen bodies covered in gunny sacks, twisted metal that used to be cars, and blood flowing like someone poured it from a bucket.
