Football Kenya Federation Division One Zone A outfit Kibra United are aiming for a top four finish in the upcoming season.
Speaking to Citizen Digital, the side’s manager, Abdul Aziz, said the team performed dismally last season due to the departure of key players midway through the campaign. Aziz added that the Nairobi-based club is now looking for new players, including strikers and central midfielders.
”Last season was challenging; we did not attain our target because several first-team players left for other clubs.
“Our goalkeeper joined Sofapaka FC while our creative midfielder signed for Gor Mahia,” Aziz said.
Abdul further mentioned that they seek sponsors since the lack of finances was a significant challenge, and they do not want to face the same issue in the upcoming season.
”Yeah, we are seeking partnerships, we still have the current one, but we need others on board to enlarge our network,” he added.
Last season, Kibra United drew many matches and conceded few goals, but they also failed to score many.
Abdul blamed his strikers and has promised to make changes next season as they aim to finish among the top four teams.
”Looking at last season’s statistics, we conceded fewer goals, which is why, as we look to reinforce, we will retain our defense line.”
The Nairobi-based team narrowly escaped relegation, finishing just one spot above the league’s danger zone in Zone A.
