Education Cabinet Secretary Migos Ogamba has assured schools that the delayed capitation funds will be released this week, attributing the delay to pressing national commitments.
Speaking during a book launch marking 60 years since the establishment of Kereri Girls High School, Ogamba clarified that the recently disbursed 25% was part of the 50% allocation for the first term.
According to the CS, the ministry has allocated Ksh19 billion in capitation for this financial year, distributed at a ratio of 50% for the first term, 30% for the second, and 20% for the third term.
His remarks come amid concerns from school principals who have decried the allocations as inadequate.
The event also saw the launch of the book ‘Leading Forward’, co-authored by 18 students from Kereri Girls.
The Executive Director of the Trueness Project, Teresa Lawrence from the United States, described the book as a masterpiece.
Lawrence noted that the project was implemented in partnership with the Kenya National Library, which supported mentorship and leadership initiatives among students and teachers.
Kereri Girls Principal Dr. Tabitha Mogonchi lauded the student authors for exploring their success stories in an engaging manner that instilled discipline. She added that the project also fostered patience and teamwork among the students.
Kereri Girls High School was established by missionaries from the Pentecostal Assemblies of God (PAG).
