The survey conducted by Gates Open Research 2023 covered 34 counties out of 47.

Overall, 32,580 men who have sex with men (MSM) were estimated in 30 counties, of which 91 per cent are concentrated in 14 counties, with Nairobi County accounting for 31 per cent of the total estimate. 

Both Kilifi and Mombasa comprised 9 per cent each of the total estimated men who have sex with men (MSM) in Kenya.
