Bishop Samson Gachathi of the ACK Diocese of Nyahururu will be consecrated today, Sunday, June 23, with President William Ruto and Deputy Rigathi Gachagua in attendance. A section of Kenyans protest politicians’ attendance at ACK pro-cathedral consecration. However, the event faces potential disruption as church members and youths protest the politicians’ presence because of the contentious Finance Bill 2024. Screenshots shared on X revealed the bishop received numerous messages from Kenyans after someone shared his number. In the messages, youths threatened to disrupt the event following the ‘punitive’ taxes proposed in the Finance Bill 2024.
