We Will Eliminate All Taxes for First 100,000 Electric Cars, William Ruto Says

President William Ruto has announced the elimination of all taxes for the first 100,000 electric cars in the 2024-2025 financial year budget. President William Ruto (l) alights from the electric car which he drove to the Africa Climate Summit held in Nairobi, Kenya on September 6, 2023.  Ruto made this announcement during his visit to the US, where he is on a state visit and hosted by his US counterpart Joe Bien. “We also lead in e-mobility. You heard the Ambassador make that statement. We host over 30 e-mobility companies and attract regional players like US Electric vehicle leader Rivian. And just to contextualize this, in this year’s budget, we will eliminate all taxes for the first 100,000 cars that are powered by electric energy,” said Ruto.
