An officer attached to the Karatu Police Station in Gatundu South is in the custody of his colleagues as they trace a firearm that got lost while in his hands. The officers at the Karuta Police Station placed their colleagues in custody as they searched for his missing firearm (image for illustration purposes). Identified as Constable Benson Otenda, the cop reported out of the station on the morning of Tuesday, May 21, after completing his shift the previous night. But while signing out, Otenda carried his firearm with him on his way home instead of returning it to the armoury. At home, he retired to bed with the firearm placed beside his bed. On waking up hours later, Otenda was shocked to learn the AK47 was missing. He immediately set out to the station, where he made a report about the gun missing. Otenda was detained as his colleagues mounted a search for the firearm.
