Kenyans in Ethiopia urged to adhere to set rules
Kenyans living in Ethiopia have been warned against flouting the safety orders issued by the government.
In an advisory, Kenyans have been asked to adhere to the rules and regulations and avoid movements in insecure regions.
“Adhere to the rules and regulations issued by the government of Ethiopia in relation to the state of emergency in Amhara region,” reads the notice from the Kenyan Embassy.
They have also been urged to remain in contact with the Embassy.
Ethiopia imposed a state of emergency in the region on August 4 following escalating fights between the military and local armed fighters.
“It was found necessary to declare a state of emergency as it had become difficult to control this outrageous activity based on the regular legal system,” a statement by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s office read.
Amhara region officially the Amhara National Regional State is a regional state in northern Ethiopia and the homeland of the Amhara people.
It is composed of the executive branch, led by the President, the legislative branch, which comprises the State Council and the judicial branch led by the state Supreme Court.
The state of emergency allows for curfews to be imposed, military to take over in certain areas, mounting roadblocks and transport services to be disrupted in some areas. BY CAPITAL NEWS
