Ruto, DP Gachagua tour Raila's Homa Bay turf
President William Ruto has landed in Homabay for the start of his two-day tour of the Nyanza region.
Ruto was received by his deputy Rigathi Gachagua and Governor Gladys Wanga among other Azimio leaders from the region.
Several members of his Cabinet are also accompanying him.
This is Ruto's second visit to the county, but the first ever significant working tour since his election.
On October 2, Ruto attended an interdenominational church service at an AIC church.
During his tour, Ruto will launch and commission various completed development projects.
In Homabay, he will launch the first phase of the affordable housing units.
The project will later cover Oyugis, Kendu Bay and Mbita in subsequent stages of implementation.
The project is expected to provide jobs to suppliers of building materials and those in the Jua Kali sector.
He will also commission the Homa Bay Municipal Market.
The market is expected to provide space for trade in agricultural products and boost the county's economy.
On Saturday, the President is expected to preside over the launch of the Blue Economy research hub at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of science and technology, Siaya county.
"There is more in the President's two-day tour of the region, including intervention in agriculture and infrastructure," Statehouse spokesman Hussein Mohamed said on Thursday. BY THE STAR
