Siwa thrown into deep end as Bandari fight to preserve pride against Gor’s charge

‎Bandari’s newly appointed interim coach, Razak Siwa, faces a mammoth assignment this afternoon as he attempts to keep a relentless Gor Mahia at arm’s length in their 2025/26 SportPesa League round 13 showdown at the Kwale Stadium from 3 pm.

‎Siwa has been handed the reins at the Dockers after the club parted ways with head coach Mohamed Borji following a dismal run of results. ‎

Borji, who took charge on October 6, managed just one win in his eight matches at the helm, a 2-0 victory over Sofapaka.

‎Bandari had claimed only one other win before his arrival, a 3-1 triumph over Murang’a Seal earlier in the season. ‎

Their 2025/26 campaign has been littered with frustrating stalemates, registering six barren draws against Kariobangi Sharks, AFC Leopards, Mara Sugar and Bidco, alongside 1-1 draws with KCB and Ulinzi Stars.

‎Their defeats have been inflicted by Shabana (1-0), Nairobi United (3-1) and most recently APS Bomet (1-0).

Siwa, a seasoned former Kenyan international, brings vast experience as a goalkeeper Coach, having served with Tanzanian giants Yanga SC, AFC Leopards, KCB, and the national team, Harambee Stars. ‎

‎In a statement released and signed by CEO Tony Kibwana, the club confirmed their decision to part ways with Borji and his assistant. ‎

“Bandari Football Club announces that the club has parted ways with Head Coach Mohamed Borji and his assistant Tarik Bendamou, effective immediately,” read the statement from the club.

‎The club explained that Borji’s departure followed a thorough review of the technical bench and its performance.

‎“This decision follows a review of the team’s technical direction as the club focuses on re-strategising its performance. We thank Coach Borji and Tarik for their contributions during their time at the club,” the statement added.

‎‎With the search for a fresh technical bench underway, Siwa has been charged with leading the Mombasa-based outfit for now. ‎

“The club will, in the coming days, announce new technical arrangements. In the meantime, Coach Razak Siwa will oversee the upcoming match.”

Bandari now brace for a wounded Gor Mahia side still reeling from their bruising 1-0 defeat in last weekend’s Mashemeji Derby, where Julius Masaba’s 26th-minute strike settled the contest. ‎

That loss had come hot on the heels of a shock 4-2 humbling by league debutants APS Bomet.

‎Despite their sudden wobble, Gor remain second on the log with 19 points, just one behind leaders Kenya Police.

‎Last season’s clashes between the two sides saw them share the spoils with Bandari winning the first leg 2-0 before Gor returned the favour with an identical scoreline in the reverse fixture.
